Role Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented, analytical Stock Control Clerk to join the Finance department and oversee end-to-end inventory control, stock management, and reconciliation processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate stock records, monitoring inventory movements across stores, preventing shrinkage, and ensuring seamless coordination between physical store operations and financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess a strong finance background, enabling them to align physical stock tracking with internal controls, valuation standards, and departmental reporting requirements.

Key Responsibilities
Stock Management & Inventory Control
Audit and verify physical stock receipts, dispatches, and transfers against approved purchase orders, delivery notes, and system logs.
Conduct regular, structured stock counts (daily/weekly spot checks and month-end physical stock counts) across all storage facilities.
Perform monthly inventory reconciliations between physical stock and system ledger balances, identifying and investigating variances.
Internal Controls & Loss Prevention
Implement and enforce strict inventory control protocols to minimize stock losses, damage, theft, and unauthorized movement.
Track product shelf life and rotation (FIFO/FEFO) to prevent loss through expiration or degradation, especially for bulk and raw materials.
Monitor minimum and maximum reorder stock levels to optimize inventory holding and avoid stock outs or overstocking.
Financial Reporting & Documentation
Prepare routine and ad-hoc stock reports, variance analysis, and valuation statements for the Finance Manager and management team.
Maintain complete and audited paper and digital trails for all stock transactions, requisitions, and adjustments.
Liaise with internal and external auditors during inventory audit exercises.

Education/ Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Supply Chain, or a closely related field.
2–3 years of proven experience in a stock/inventory management role situated directly within a Finance department.
Previous experience in the milling, manufacturing, FMCG, or food processing industry is strongly preferred and will be an added advantage.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in inventory management modules within Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems (e.g., SAP, Sage, Pastel, or Syspro) and advanced Excel capability.
Core Competencies: Strong numerical accuracy, high integrity, analytical mindset, and excellent understanding of internal financial controls.
