Prevail International invites applications from suitably qualified, experienced and results-driven Civil Engineers with strong practical expertise in road construction and road edging.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan, coordinate and supervise road construction, road edging and associated civil engineering works.
• Oversee the installation of concrete road kerbs, edge restraints, channels and related road finishing works.
• Interpret engineering drawings, road layouts, setting-out information, levels and technical specifications.
• Supervise excavation, earthworks, subgrade preparation, compaction, road formation and pavement construction.
• Ensure accurate setting out of road alignments, gradients, levels and edging lines.
• Monitor drainage works, stormwater channels, culverts and other supporting road infrastructure.
• Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with engineering specifications and required standards.
• Monitor project progress, resource utilisation, costs and adherence to work schedules.
• Identify technical challenges on site and implement appropriate engineering solutions.
• Enforce health, safety and environmental requirements across all construction activities.
• Prepare site progress reports, measurements, material requirements and other technical documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
• A Degree or Higher National Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution.
• At least 5 years of practical experience in road construction and civil engineering projects, with demonstrable experience in road edging and kerb installation.
• Strong working knowledge of road construction methods, pavement layers, concrete works, drainage systems, levels and gradients.
• Demonstrated ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and Bills of Quantities.
• Experience supervising contractors, site teams, equipment operators and general labourers.
• Ability to carry out site measurements, quality inspections and construction progress assessments.
• Knowledge of relevant Zimbabwean engineering standards, construction practices and occupational health and safety requirements.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office will be an added advantage.
• A valid Class 4 driver's licence will be an added advantage.
• Registration with the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe, where applicable, will be an added advantage.

• Strong technical and practical understanding of road construction and edging works.
• Excellent site supervision, planning and coordination skills.
• High attention to detail, particularly regarding alignment, levels, gradients and finishing quality.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and resolve site-related engineering challenges.
• Strong communication, problem-solving and reporting skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet project deadlines and manage multiple site activities.
• Willingness to work at various project sites across Zimbabwe.
